Again, not this current storm but one from the past. From those careless times when I didn't have to disassemble a trampoline or barricade the garage with sandbags.
TC Alfred is FINALLY here. Got everyone waiting for too long.
#ThrowbackThursday to March 2015, when a storm fizzled out before reaching the coast, and rained down over the ocean just around sunset...

Good #Wednesday morning, everyone, hoping those who've been through this line of storms have done well, and those who will see them later don't have problems.
My PWS recorded large gusts, and quite a bit of rain (which we do need). The worst of the line is past us, but the NWS has extended the high wind warning in #Asheville until 7PM
I was a bit distracted in the last few days with the preparations to the Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Finally most of prep is over and I can post a photo. This one is not a very recent, it is one of the past storms but looks relevant to both #SeaWednesday and TC Alfred.
Here is a clear reason why you shouldn't be using the social media platforms provided by the tech giants.
A powerful #storm system will impact millions across the U.S. in the coming days.
Blizzard conditions and high winds will hit the Rockies and northern Plains, while severe storms target the southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley.
#Tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail are possible, starting tonight in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, intensifying Tuesday in Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Tennessee, and reaching the East Coast from the Mid-Atlantic to Georgia by Wednesday.

This paper puzzles me. The authors suggest that over the last decade, evaporation has been going down, mostly because of near-surface #wind speeds lower, but at the same time, we observed stronger #storm events. #ClimateChange interactions are weird sometimes.

There are some things in the data treatment that look a bit odd, but I don't feel like I know enough to make a call (but if you are, have a look at Figs S3 and S6 and tell me what you think)
