Does anybody you know in the FOSS world is involved in some Foundation or Association for a project in Belgium or The Netherlands? I'd love to hear your experience! At @postmarketOS we are looking into starting a legal entity, and we are still pondering pros and cons of different options (gitlab.postmarketos.org/postma) We already got lots of feedback from German e.V. and a Spanish Foundation is likely a no-go.

GitLabLegal entity for postmarketOS (#75) · Issues · postmarketOS / postmarketOS · GitLabI think it would be benificial for pmOS to have a legal entity. The team is growing and we are trying to get more money from...

Choose wisely!

#BigTech - the data vampires that harvests as much data about you as possible, with their opaque platform silos, black boxes, targeted advertisements, dark patterns and attention seeking algorithms?

Or #PostmarketOS - free, open source, driven by a community of enthusiasts who share a common goal: to promote a healthier and more sustainable society. And have some fun while doing it!

absurd amount of work going on in #postmarketOS lately and every month it just seems to grow. Huge thanks to everyone who is helping make this project so awesome to be a part of, whether you're contributing, chatting on Matrix or just enjoying postmarketOS on your devices.

What if someone instead modified an existing Linux distribution to make it run on smartphones, and made sure that each phone only need one unique package so that the rest can be shared and upstreamed? This could extend the life of countless phones around the world.

And it is exactly what the folks at #PostmarketOS are doing!

The linux desktop fight, which I actually thought had come to an end ;)

I used linux since #kde 1.1, allmost 30 years, and KDE most of that time, all though I did try Gnome and some other window managers from time to time. Countless Linux distros.

I have phone running #postmarketos with #plasmamobile, not really usable yet, though slowly improving. My best bid for a google/ios free mobile os usable in a foreseeable future would be #lineageos based, probably like #e_OS, with a not-google-run app store. Such a system would need a business model and economics to run, it does cost money.
My daily phone (#fairphone fp 3 with /e/os) is running quite well, but there is a long way for a setup that is usable by the masses, and the monopolists are bullies, like their unfortunate president.

We need to join forces :)

I realized that I'm becoming a bit of a processes freak. This seems to come from me over-reacting to our communities often lacking the structure needed to discuss proposals, or execute actions, where more than a few individuals need to be involved. Having some text as guidance, or some set of pre-written steps can help avoid misunderstandings and people feeling hurt. I'm so proud we managed to pull a change-request process in #postmarketOS (gitlab.postmarketos.org/postma), and I really hope we can follow-up with whatever is needed as we keep growing

All's well in the world of #MobileLinux. Progress continues, fueled by many wonderful people and orgs. Camera sorta works now on Oneplus 6/6t, which is monumental🤩
I've had my OP6 for five years now, running #postmarketOS all the while. It's been a wild ride, which I'm so grateful to have come along for.
pmOS has been my daily driver for mobile computing for the better part of two years now, only interrupted by occasional stints running Android.

I've swapped batteries in my device twice, and now I'm planning to replace the battery once more as well as replace the USB C port.

It's been a delight. Here're my first cat pics taken with my phone running pmOS in celebration of many years to come! ✨🎉

Story: @cas announced that the Qualcomm SDM845 chip in the OnePlus 6/6T has received initial camera support: social.treehouse.systems/@cas/
There is an open merge request: gitlab.postmarketos.org/postma

So, while waiting for something to build, I went around the house to see what I could do with the limited imagery I would get out of it.

You may credit them to my username, but the real credit belongs to the #postmarketOS contributors. Especially a user "DrGit", who got the sensor working.
