At what point should local news outlets start talking about the ?

If the developer doesn't secure that grocery store, they're on the hook for the $1.5 million approved by the city last year for a road leading to that grocery store.

I was one of the reporters covering that commission vote when the city manager asked reporters NOT to publicize the name at the time.

Like a rube, I didn't say anything about the store THAT WAS BLATANTLY NOTED IN PUBLIC DOCUMENTS.

If I'm reading that letter right, the city only has one more fiscal year of funding that expansion for the developer to secure an Albertson's grocery store.

If FY24-25 comes and goes, I think that means the $1.5M from the TIF district would be reimbursed by the developer.

But no, let's have our local newspaper keep doing lighthearted front page profiles on school employees and local museum exhibits.

By the city's own admission, there is a massive shortfall in needed grocery store space for this area.

Why the delay and, perhaps more importantly, the secrecy? I have a theory, but not enough motivation to test it.
